On 3 August 2026, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs summoned Russia’s chargé d’affaires in Stockholm.
This was to take a clear stance against Russia’s extensive attacks targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Ukraine. The large-scale attack on Kyiv the night of 1 August also damaged the Embassy of Lithuania in Kyiv, and the Honorary Consul of Latvia in Sloviansk was damaged by attacks on 24 July.
In the meeting, Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and recent violations of the airspace of Sweden’s Allies were condemned. Russia’s obligation to comply with international humanitarian law was also stressed.
